Ankara, 25 Rabi’ul Akhir 1436/15 February 2015 (MINA) – Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu condemned Sunday the “cruel murder of a 20-year-old female university student” in the southern province of Mersin.
Davutoglu, speaking at his AK Party’s provincial meeting in southern Antalya province, said he hopes the perpetrators will face very severe penalties.
On Friday, Ozgecan Aslan’s burned body was found in Mersin’s Tarsus district. She had been reported missing by her family two days earlier, Anadolu Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with Aslan’s murder. Her funeral was held on Saturday and her coffin was carried by women.

Davutoglu also phoned Aslan’s family and said that “everything will be done to appropriately punish the murderers in this vicious attack.”
He also announced that a new youth center would be opened in Antalya, which will be named after Aslan. (T/P010/P3)
