US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Washington, MINA – US President Donald Trump clarified on Tuesday that Israel’s recent strike on Qatar was ordered solely by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, not by the United States.

“This was a decision made by [Israeli] Prime Minister Netanyahu; it was not a decision made by me.” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Trump said he directed Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to alert Qatari officials about the impending attack, but the message was delivered too late to prevent the strike.

His comments came after Qatar’s Foreign Ministry rejected a White House claim that Doha had been warned in advance. Qatari officials said the communication from Washington only came after explosions had already occurred.

Trump said he spoke with Netanyahu following the attack, and that the Israeli leader expressed a desire to pursue peace.

He also said he reached out to Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to ensure such an incident would not be repeated on Qatari soil.

“Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals,” he wrote.

Trump added that he has instructed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finalize a Defense Cooperation Agreement with Qatar.

The Israeli military described the airstrike as a precision operation targeting senior Hamas leaders in Doha. Qatar, however, strongly condemned the attack, calling it a blatant violation of international law and a threat to the country’s sovereignty and security.

Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, has long served as a key mediator in efforts to broker peace between Israel and Hamas. []
