Thai-Indonesian FM Meet in Jakarta

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno LP Marsudi received the visit of Thailand’s Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai at the Pancasila Building, Jalan Pejambon, Central Jakarta at 10:40 a.m. lical time, Wednesday.

First, Foreign Minister Retno conveyed Indonesia’s support for Thailand as chair of ASEAN. Then, the two Foreign Ministers discussed about Indonesia-Thailand relations and on issues related to ASEAN, including the resolution of peace in Rakhine state, Myanmar.

“During today’s meeting, we talked about important issues related to ASEAN. First is the matter of the peace of the Rohingya people in Rakhine, Myanmar, and secondly about the development of the concept of the ASEAN Outlook Indo-Pacific, “said Foreign Minister Retno.

Retno said the assignment team that had been in Myanmar had completed its mission today. She and the Thai Foreign Minister were waiting for the results of the team and will follow up.

Retno said that his party also discussed the development of a concept made by Indonesia for the Indo-Pacific cooperation agreement. She also appreciated the support given by the Thai Foreign Minister for the concept.

Therefore, to further strengthen the cooperation of the Indo-Pacific, Indonesia will hold a high-level dialogue on March 20, 2019 which will be attended by 18 countries. (L/Sj/R04)
