New Delhi, MINA – Death toll rose to ten in the ongoing standoff between Indian security forces and militants who stormed an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, Indian police sources said.

Quoting a high-level police official from the state, the Press Trust of India (PTI) said that the security forces killed two more militants as the operation to smoke out suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad militants from the Sunjuwan Military Station yesterday entered into second day.

“Two more terrorists have been killed, bringing the total number to four,” the agency quoted an Indian official as saying.

In addition to two army personnel killed yesterday, three soldiers and a civilian lost their lives today during the operation taking the toll into 10 people.

According to a high-level defence official, the “evacuation of people from the family quarters is in progress” and the operation to flush out the militants is still going on with utmost care to avoid civilian casualties.
