Three Indian Soldiers, Militant Killed in Kashmir Gun-Battle

New Delhi, 17 Jumadil Awwal 1438/14 February 2017 (MINA) – Indian police stated on Tuesday that three soldiers and an armed militant were killed in an encounter in Hajin area of Bandipora district of north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Quoting the local police sources, the Press Trust of India (PTI) said that the security forces launched an operation this morning and cordoned off Parray Mohalla in Hajin following information that militants were hiding in the area.

As the forces came closer, the militants began firing and during the ensuing intense exchange of fire, three Indian soldiers and one militant were killed while six security personnel and a civilian sustained injuries.

The source added that all the injured were taken to a nearby hospital while the security authorities started ascertaining the identity of the slain militant.

This attack came two days after the killing of two Army personnel and four militants in an encounter which took place in Kulgam district of Kashmir.
