Idlib, Syria, 11 Dzulhijjah 1435/5 October 2014 (MINA) – On Saturday, the pro-Syrian regime forces shelled the Grand Mosque in the city of Saraqeb in the countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria, killing and injuring dozens of civilians who were performing prayers of Eid al-Ahda (Feast of the Sacrifice), locals reported.

Activists based in the city of Idlib reported that the pro-regime helicopters dropped several barrel bombs on Saraqeb’s Grand Mosque, amid mass displacement of the city’s population due to constant bombardment launched by pro-regime military forces, ARA News quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

In Daraa province, southern Syria, the opposition fighters of the Free Syria Army (FSA) took control of the Um Awsaj checkpoint and farms surrounding the eastern Tel al-Hara areas in the northern countryside of the province, killing a number of pro-regime soldiers as well as destroying an ammunition dump in al-Tulool al-Humur area.

The FSA opposition also seized control of the military security building and the village of Zamrin in Daraa province on Saturday.

In Damascus, local sources reported that at least 4 people were killed and dozen others wounded in pro-regime air strikes on the city of Arbeen in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus countryside.

In addition to dropping several barrel bombs on the city of Zamalka in the Eastern Ghouta, pro-Assad army forces shelled the sub districts of Harasta and Jobar, east of Damascus on Saturday.

In Homs, medical sources reported that one person was killed and several others wounded after the fall of a ground-to-ground missile on al-Waar neighborhood in the city, as others were injured in the bombardment of Qahtaniya village in the northern countryside of Homs.

Activists in the city of Aleppo, northern Syria, pointed out that armed opposition forces captured a number of Iranian fighters and Afghans who were fighting in the ranks of the regime’s forces, after taking control of al-Mallah building which the FSA took a stronghold on Saturday. (T/P001/P3)
