Philippines Formulates Guidelines for Halal Accreditation
Manila, MINA – Philippine government approved formulation of guidelines for the country’s halal accreditation body to increase halal market, said the Bussiness Mirror on Sunday as quoted by Anadolu Agency (AA).
Philippine Minister of Commerce, Ramon M. Lopez said his agency would issue halal certification guidelines under a special institution called Philippine Halal Logo.
This institution will become a halal certification body to determine halal standards in the Philippines.
According to Ramon, the concept of this accreditation body has gone through various consultative meetings with relevant stakeholders, including Muslim groups.
Philippine government plans to launch halal guidelines on May 3 at the Philippines National Halal Conference in Pampanga region.
Previously, Philippines targeted the global halal market by promoting local food products to the international world.
Executive Director of the International Trade Exhibition and Mission Center of the Philippines Ministry of Trade and Industry (DTI-CITEM) Pauline Suaco-Juan said her country was ready to export halal products abroad.
“The Philippines is more than ready to meet the demands of global halal market, especially with our halal industry,” said Suaco-Juan.
