Palestinians Will Proceeds Towards Conciliation – Presidency

Ramallah, MINA – The Palestinian presidency said Tuesday the Palestinians would proceed with their national conciliation regardless of the Israeli position.

“Any Israeli remarks will not change the official Palestinian position to proceed with conciliation to honor hopes and aspirations of our people to end the division and end the occupation,” Nabil Abu Rudainah, presidency spokesman, was quoted by WAFA official news agency as saying.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will proceed with conciliation efforts, he affirmed.

The Egyptian-brokered agreement between Fatah and Hamas is heading in the right direction “and any Israeli remarks will not change the official position,” he said.

Abu Rudainah was reacting to the Israeli mini-cabinet which said Israel would not talk to a Palestinian government that included members from Hamas, unless the movement recognize Israel and disarm itself.

Israel will talk to the Palestinian government which includes Hamas if the latter recognizes Israel, rejects “terrorism” and disarm in line with conditions of the international diplomatic Quartet, the mini-cabinet said in a statement following its meeting.

Hamas should also release the Israelis it holds in Gaza Strip and the Palestinian authority takes full security control over the strip, it said. (T/RS5/RS1)
