PALESTINIAN MP: OBAMA’S VISIT TO AL AQSA DECLARES A WAR

Gaza, 27 Rabiul Akhir 1434/9 March 2013 (MINA) – The Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas says the potential visit by U.S. President Barack Obama to al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied city of Jerusalem will be a declaration of war on the Muslim world.

The statement was made by a member of the Palestinian parliament who is also a membar of Hamas official, Musheer al Masri when commenting Obama’s visit plan on Friday (8/3), according to Alresalah.ps report as quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

Al Masri called for a third Palestinian Intifada (uprising) against Israel, if Obama chooses to visit al-Aqsa Mosque , where Israel claims the Temple Mount has been once before.

Obama will be arriving in the occupied territories later this month. However, Washington is yet to confirm Obama’s visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Al Masri called on all Palestinians and the Islamic world to reject the visit. That’s because Obama has repeatedly confirmed the Israeli claims that under the Al Aqsa mosque there are the temple of Solomon, so they want to replace the mosque with a synagogue (Jewish place of worship).

According to Obama’s plan, he will arrive in Palestine at the end of March 2013. However, Washington has not yet to confirm the exact date of Obama’s visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque.

There was a speculation appearred that Obama’s visit plan to encourage and revive Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations which stalled since 2010 ago.

U.S. State Secretary John Kerry has dismissed that hope. “Obama will not bring peace plan to Israel and Palestinian territories next month. We did not want to talk about what they (Palestine-Israel) should do,” said Kerry.

Meanwhile, many of the demonstrations held by the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza to protest the planned visit of the American president.

Protesters waving green flags and pictures of Palestinian prisoners languishing in Zionist prisons. They also chanted slogans calling for defense of al-Aqsa and the U.S. government to cancel the policy and tending to the oppressed Palestinians.

Chairman of the Palestinian Freedom Movement Sheikh Raed Salah in a press statement on Monday (4/3) said that the demonstration was carried out related to the plan of U.S. President Barack Obama entered the city of al-Quds and the al-Aqsa mosque on this Month.

Raed Salah judged that if the trip really happen, it means that Obama confirmed the legality of the Zionist occupation in al Aqsa mosque, as well as declaring hostility to Muslims, the Arab world and to all Palestinians. Since the issue of al-Quds and the al-Aqsa mosque is not just a Palestinian problem, but merely a matter of the Islamic world. (T/P04/E1)
