Over 400,000 Muslims Perform Laylat Al-Qadr Prayer at Al-Aqsa Despite Israeli Measures

Ramallah, 28 Ramadan 1437/03 July 2016 (MINA) – Up to 400,000 Muslims, mostly Palestinians, performed the Laylat Al Qadr (The Night of Decree) prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque Friday night, KUNA reported.

The fact that almost half a million Muslims reached Jerusalem and prayed in Al-Aqsa reveals the failure of the tough measures by the Israeli occupation to isolate the city, a spokesman of Fatah movement Rafaat Alian said in a press statement.

It was noticeable that so many Muslims of other nationalities managed to reach the Mosque, he added, urging Arabs and Muslims to be keen on paying regular visits to Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa in a bid to halt Israeli attempts to efface their Islamic and Arab identities.

Laylat Al Qadr, one of the holiest nights in the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, marks the night when the first verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Mohammad.

Muslims were reminded to increase their taqwa (piety) to Allah SWT in the month of Ramadhan, especially to reap the benefits of Lailatul Qadr.

Lailatul Qadr wasn’t granted to any other ummah (community) except for Prophet Muhammad SAW’s ummah.

This was because the previous ummah were granted long lives that allowed them more time to perform acts of worship. (T/R07/R01)
