No More Medals for Indonesia at Rio Olympics Weightlifting Competition
Rio de Janeiro, 07 Dzulqa’dah 1437/10 August 2016 (MINA) – No more medals Indonesia can expect at the Rio Olympic weightlifting competiton after two Indonesian hopefuls, Triyatno dan I Ketut Ariana, failed to perform well at their respective category at the Rio Centro Pavilion on Tuesday local time.
In the competition of men’s 69 kg class Triyatno could only record a total of 317 kg and was in 10th position out of 21 weightlifters.
Of the total of 317 kg, Triyatno recorded 142 kg in snatch and 175 kg in the clean and jerk. The results were not enough to deliver Triyatno qualified for the final.
A similar fate was also experienced by his compatriot, I Ketut Ariana, who was even unable to lift on three occation.
With their failure, Indonesian hope to add another medals from weightlifting competition ended in disappointment, whereas the country’s weightlifters had peviously won silvers through Eko Yuli in the men’s 62kg and Sri Wahyu Agustiani in the women’s 48kg.
With just two silver, Indonesia is still stuck in the 25th ranking in the table medal collection. (T/R07/R01)
