Indonesia Still Trying to Gain Additional Medals at 2016 Rio Olympics

Rio de Janeiro, 10 Dzulqa’dah 1437/13 August 2016  (MINA)  – There are still no additional medals for Indonesia at the 2016 Olympics, but the struggle for that is continuing today.

Until the 7th day of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the number of medals grabbed by Indonesia is still two silver collected from weightlifting event , placing Indonesia at position 43 of the medals standings.

Topped the medals tally was the United States with 20 golds, plus 13 silvers and 17 bronzes. China followed the American athletes in the second spot with 13 golds, 10 silvers, and 14 bronzes.

Indonesian athletes will return to fight in an attempt to add medals for ‘Red and White’ on the 8th day, Saturday (08/13/2016). From the badminton competition, based on on he current schedule, Indonesian men’s doubles Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan will take on Chai Biao/Hong Wei (China) at 19:00 pm later.

There is Sudirman Hadi who will undergo a preliminary round men’s 100m at 19:30 pm.

Greysia Polii/Nitya Maheswari Krishinda will face Vivian Hoo Kah Mun/Woon Khe Wei (Malaysia) at 19:35 pm. The two couples alike are sure to qualify from the group.

Afterwards, at 20:10 pm, the turn of Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir to play, taking on Chan Peng Soon Goh/Liu Ying (Malaysia). They also both are sure to qualify from the group.

Linda Wenifanetri women’s singles will compete in the Group J with Vu Thi Trang of Vietnam at 21:20 pm.

The series of badminton matches will be closed by Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto against the Chinese pair Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei at 2:40 pm, Sunday morning, to decide the group winner.
