Nazareth, 18 Rajab 1436/7 Mei 2015 (MINA) – The Israeli occupation army has decided to conduct an investigation into the possible presence of an underground tunnel running from the Gaza Strip to the border settlement Nirim in the Negev region.

The Hebrew radio said the military investigation was initiated after an Israeli private company reported claims by Nirim settlers of hearing digging sounds coming from beneath their houses, Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The company had initially investigated the claims and said that noticeable changes happened to the soil surface in the reported area.

Palestinian underground tunnels had helped al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas to carry out special commando operations inside Israeli military posts during the last war on Gaza.

Although, the Israeli army claims it has destroyed all tunnels in the war, it still fears that the Palestinian resistance will build others. (T/P006/R04)
