Gaza, MINA – The Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday issued an unprecedented evacuation order for all residents of Gaza City, marking a dramatic escalation in what Palestinians describe as a campaign of genocide.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced that residents from Gaza City’s eastern neighborhoods, including the Old City and Al-Tuffah, must move west toward the coastline before relocating south to Al-Mawasi in Khan Yunis. Israeli aircraft simultaneously dropped leaflets carrying the same instructions over western Gaza, where nearly one million displaced Palestinians have been sheltering under dire conditions.

Israeli occupation army also circulated a phone number urging residents to report alleged efforts by Hamas to prevent evacuations, a move Palestinians denounced as psychological warfare aimed at forcing mass displacement.

The order comes after days of intensified Israeli bombardments on residential neighborhoods. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu boasted Monday that Israeli forces had destroyed 50 residential towers in just two days, warning residents that this was only “the beginning” of a major ground maneuver. “Take this opportunity, listen carefully: you have been warned, get out now,” he declared.

Israel has branded its latest military aggression “Gideon’s Chariots 2,” with the declared aim of fully occupying Gaza City and displacing its population.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s aggression on Gaza has killed nearly 65,000 Palestinians, wounded more than 130,000, and devastated the enclave’s civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and universities. A deliberate starvation policy has also led to hundreds of deaths.

In response, the Palestinian health ministry issued an urgent appeal to the international community, the United Nations, and humanitarian organizations to provide immediate protection for Gaza’s hospitals and medical staff. It warned of an imminent catastrophe threatening thousands of patients and wounded if safe access routes to hospitals are not secured.

Despite the evacuation order and ongoing bombardment, hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents and displaced families have vowed to remain in the city, rejecting what they describe as Israel’s attempt to erase Gaza and force its people into permanent exile. []
