Al-Quds, 11 Rabi’ul Akhir 1436/1 February 2015 (MINA) – According to the report released on Saturday by the Palestinian Department of Prisoner Affairs, many of the captive Palestinian children reported being assaulted and beaten during their arrests and while being interrogated.

Sixteen-year-old Malek Hamdan from East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) suffered bone fractures after being beaten while held at an Israeli detention center, Press Tv quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Muhammad Abd al-Fattah Radwan, 17 years old from Qalqiliya, was held at the al-Jalama detention center for 15 days. During his detention, Radwan was kept in a cramped, filthy and cold room whose lights were kept on 24 hours a day.

Blindfolded and handcuffed, he was assaulted and dragged on the ground for a long distance and then tied to a chair for interrogation every day.

In another case, Muhammad Yousef Ikhleil, 16 years of age, was detained on November 1, while on his way home from school, and is currently being held in HaSharon prison.

Before being taken into custody, Ikhleil was shot in the thigh and then beaten by Israeli troops. He was then moved to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, where he underwent surgery. During his stay in the hospital, he was cuffed to a bed and interrogated.

Around 700 Palestinian children are arrested by Israeli forces each year and face ill-treatment by their captors, says a 2015 report released by the Child Rights International Network. (T/P011/R03)
