INDONESIAN ENTREPRENEURS JOIN “DIGITAL VILLAGE”

Jakarta, 9 Dzulqa’dah 1436/24 August 2015 (MINA) – As many as 198 Indonesian small and middle entrepreneurs (SMEs) joined “Digital Village” which was initiated by PT Telkom Indonesia to develop their businesses.

The entrepreneurs are engaged in flower business, located in Rawa Belong, West Jakarta. The program used the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a means to introduce their products to the public and expanding business network.

The director of the Enterprise and Business Services PT Telkom Indonesia, Muhammad Awaluddin said in Jakarta, Monday, the participation of 198 SMEs became the evidence of their great interest to be more independent and grow together.

According to Awaluddin, the digital village was the fifth ‘village’ developed by Telkom. Earlier villages such as Centra Snack Keranggan South Tangerang, Centra Holy Shirt Bandung, Sentra Weaving Samarinda, East Borneo, Sentra Batik Trusmi Cirebon, West Java, and Digital Village in Pariaman, West Sumatra have been established.

“There are 25 stores opened in Blanja.com online market. 23 other stores use Jarvis Store applications. Five SMEs are already using the Bostoko ERP application. “We are also preparing for all electronic payment, So, everything could be done Online,” said Awaluddin.

“For the first time, we introduced the Supply Chain Management Application for Order taking, integrated with the e-payment system owned by Telkom for SMEs Digital Village community,” said Awaluddin.

Telkom is boosting the “SME Goes Digital” program to become a national interest. Based on a survey, the involvement of SMEs in digital system could improve Indonesia’s economic growth of 2 percent.

Awaluddin targets as many as 60 SMEs Digital Village will be Established by the end of 2015. (T/R03/NMT)
