Indonesia to Build MotoGP Circuit in Mandalika, Lombok

Jakarta, MINA – Street Race Circuit of Moto Grand Prix will be built in Indonesia soon, precisely in the Mandalika Region, Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB).

Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Imam Nahrawi strongly supports the circuit building that is carried out by the the Indonesia Tourism Development Coporation (ITDC).

“Glad to hear this, MotoGP is very much awaited by Indonesian. If the circuit in our country, there must be a lot of people watching, rather than having to go to Malaysia like now, ” Imam told reporters as quoted from Indonesia.go.id, Wednesday (16/1).

Imam planed to meet the Minister of Tourism and related parties to provide support and continue to promote so that the circuit will be realized soon.

Meanwhile, ITDC’s chief director, Abdulbar Mansoer conveyed the plan to build a MotoGP Circuit with an MoU with VINCI Construction investors.

“There are several reasons for choosing the Mandalika region. Its exotic area is very attractive for tourists, especially foreign tourists and with the development of sports tourism will accelerate Lombok’s recovery from the trauma of the earthquake that struck last year, “Mansoer said.

Previously, he has also asked for support from the government, especially to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to realize the dreams of MotoGP lovers and Indonesian citizens.

“Minister, we need strong support and promotion if we want MotoGP In Indonesia on March 2022. And investors are ready to build Mandalika, with the presence of sport tourism, it will speed up the recovery in Lombok,” he said. (T/Sj/R04)
