Samarinda, 20 Muharram 1437/2 November 2015 (MINA) – The local government of Samarinda, East Kalimantan through its Department of Highways and Irrigation (DBMP) immediately to build the Systems Solar Sluice (P2A-SIHMEK).

“This project is more economical and efficient. We asked the Highways and Irrigation department to immediately proposed budget, before the budget 2016 be approved,” said the Mayor of Samarinda Syaharie Jaang, Sunday. Antaranews reported as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

He also advised the farmers especially in Sambutan village area to care the project that was introduced by the Head of the Water Resources Development Department of Highways and Irrigation, Abdul Samad.

“We hope, next year (2016) we planned to start construction of the project through pure budget in 2016,” said Syaharie Jaang.

The Head of Water Resources Development, Department of Highways and Irrigation, Abdul Samad said the use of P2A-SIHMEK will be more efficient due to drive the floodgates did not need much power.

“The operational process of the sluice is easier and more efficient because it uses an automated system through solar power motors. For the long term, it also provides easier maintenance and ensuring the quality of the water gate,” said Samad.

The use of solar power technology can also be used for lighting in the sluice, facilitate air traffic control and the availability of hydro data WHICH required by other fields.

“We hope that this project can be applied on 2016. Half of floodgates that exists today (100 gates) could use this project,” said Samad. (TL/R03/R04)
