Geneva, MINA – An independent of the United Nations (UN) expert on human rights called for an international ban on all products are made by Israeli settlements on Palestinian territories.
Michael Lynk, Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Territories told the General Assembly Human Rights Committee on Wednesday, October 23 that the international community must issue “a firm call to the UN” to complete and release a database of businesses involved in illegal settlement activities.
Lynk said the international community had a responsibility and legal obligation to force Israel to fully end its occupation and remove barriers from Palestinians, thus quoted from Times of Israel on Thursday, October 24.
Israel strongly opposes the Palestinian-led international boycott movement, which it views as an attack on its existence.

Supporters of the boycott said it was a non-violent way to protest Israel’s treatment of Palestinians.
The UN Human Rights Council has repeatedly postponed the release of controversial reports about companies doing business in Israeli settlements, which will initially be published in 2017. (T/Sj/P2)
