Gaza City, 25 Dzulhijjah 1434/30 Oktober 2013 (MINA) – Hamas has never ever been subject to the political stances of any Arab or Islamic states, Ghazi Hamad, a senior leader of Hamas, said on Monday. “Hamas does not follow others’ decisions, and is not possessed by anybody,” Hamad said.

Hamad placed a great emphasis on the necessity of backing-up the Palestinian Cause, saying that the Islamic movement has “perfect” relations with others.

“There are some countries that gave us money, while many other states gave us weapons needed to defend ourselves,” said Hamad. “This does not mean that Hamas is following anyone,” Hamad confirmed.

“We were in Syria, even though the Syrian regime fought against the Muslim Brotherhood, and we also existed in countries, which keep ties with both, the U.S. and Israel,” Hamad added.

As for the relationship with Egypt, Hamad confirmed that Hamas does not interfere in the Egyptian affairs “at all”.

Speaking of the internal Palestinian affairs, the leader of Hamas expressed the eagerness of the Islamic movement and its government in Gaza to find a real national strategy based on a shared vision and consensus “to reach success”.

He stated that the internal Palestinian situation “cannot remain in tense” any longer.

“We want to get our people out of the crisis because it is not right to remain in the circle of mutual internal accusations,” said Hamad.

Hamad believed that the problem lies in the “political investment, which needs to witness”. “Any action should be taught in the context of achieving success politically, pushing the Palestinian case forward,” said he. “We are ready to push in this direction,” Hamad stressed. (T/P02/P04)
