Tunis, MINA – An international fleet of humanitarian boats, known as the Global Sumud Flotilla, is set to depart from Tunisia’s Sidi Bou Said Port on Wednesday to deliver aid to the besieged Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reported.
According to organizers, more than 50 ships from various countries will begin sailing at 1500 GMT. The flotilla seeks to challenge Israel’s long-standing blockade on Gaza and deliver urgent humanitarian supplies to Palestinians trapped in the enclave.
The initiative brings together activists, civil society groups, and international supporters who say the mission is not only about delivering aid but also about sending a strong political message against what they describe as Israel’s policy of collective punishment on Gaza.
The Gaza Strip has faced nearly two years of intensified Israeli military aggression and blockade, leaving much of the territory in ruins and its population struggling with famine, displacement, and lack of medical supplies. []
