Ramallah, MINA — Minister of Foreign Affairs, Riyad al-Malki, said on Friday that thanks to the recent diplomatic efforts of the Palestinian foreign ministry and the Palestinian embassy in Malaysia, all Palestinian refugees who have been incarcerated by Thai authorities for overstaying their visas were freed, WAFA reported.
Activists have been organizing campaigns to help Palestinians in Thailand who arrived there from Syria escaping war and death.

The Thai authorities have arrested them for overstaying their visas and kept them in overcrowded and dismal detention centers with criminals, drug traffickers and sec offenders, according to the activists.
The refugees, estimated at 600 comprised of elderly and young families, were treated as criminals rather than asylum seekers. (T/RS5/RS1)
