KUWAITI FOREIGN MINISTER: DECISIVE STORM WILL BRING DIALOGUE TO YEMEN
Kuwait, 13 Jumadil Akhir 1436/2 April 2015 (MINA) – Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, stated that ‘the objective of the Operation Decisive Storm is to return things back in their right order and bring all Yeminis to the dialogue table at an equal distance.’
During a press conference following the conclusion of the third donor conference to support the Syrian people held in Kuwait on Tuesday, Al-Sabah said ‘this is what we are confirming and focusing on, especially as the Yemeni people, have agreed to the Gulf initiative which was adopted by the Arab League and the UN Security Council, and became now about to be finalised.’
He continued reiterating that ‘we adhere to a peaceful solution in Yemen, a return to dialogue, and resumption of what has been agreed upon,’ Middle East Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
‘Our brothers in Yemen have succeeded, through constitutional channels, to appoint a president and adopt a comprehensive dialogue, the outcomes of which were agreed upon by all Yeminis groups.’
‘I had the honor to chair a Gulf delegation in Sanaa to celebrate the outcomes, where the Constitution was formulated, leaving only two steps of the Gulf initiative including electing a president and electing parliament.
But later on, we have seen a development in the situation there is a group trying to change by force, which is a dangerous matter.’
For the sixth day in row, Kuwait is participating in the on-going military operation, where the aircrafts of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia are bombing military sites belonging to the Houthis in Yemen.
Responding to the invitation of the Yemeni president, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, to call for intervention militarily for ‘the protection of Yemen and its people from the aggression of Houthis militias.’ (T/P002/P3)
