Indonesian Ulema and Philanthropies to Build Hospital in Hebron

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) together with Indonesian Philanthropies will build a Hospital in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine.

Previously, there has been an Indonesia Hospital in Gaza which initiated by humanitarian organization which focuses on medical affairs, Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) since 2017 and now two more floors are being added.

The MUI team will go to Hebron to see the construction site of the Indonesian Islamic Hospital on April 19, 2019.

“We will go to Hebron next month to sign the MoU with the mayor of Hebron, the West Bank, Palestine. It is related to the construction of Indonesian Hospital in Hebron,” said MUI Chairman of International Relations and International Cooperation Muhyiddin Junaidi to the Central MUI Office, Jakarta, Tuesday.

The MUI team consist of seven people who will be funded by the Ministry of Education’s Directorate of Cultural Diplomacy. In addition the signing MoU, it will also lay the first stone in the construction of hospital.

“If there is time and opportunity, we will lay the first stone of Indonesia Hospital in Hebron. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly and get access there, because of not all Indonesians can go there, “he said.

The establishment of the Indonesia Hospital in Habron was initiated by MUI and Philanthropies, Lembaga Kemanusiaan Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT), Dompet Duafa.

“The fundraising for the hospital, we did not determine the nominal value of each philanthropies, they will make their own program and then discuss it, because there should be no overlapping,” he explained.

He added that so far, more aid for humanity has entered Gaza than to the West Bank, with a population of 2.5 million who often get physical and psychological pressure such as threats, arrests and other discrimination.

The location of Indonesia Hospital is submitted to the Mayor with 4,000 meters and cost of construction around $7 million.

“The waqf document is clear, the waqaf land was handed over to the mayor. Licensing, location, everything has been cleared and I will meet the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss this, “he added. (L/Sj/P2)
