Pilots at flag carrier Garuda Indonesia threaten to launch a strike in response to unpopular policies introduced by new management

Jakarta, MINA — The Indonesian Consumer Protection Foundation (YLKI) is firmly opposed to the plan by the Garuda Labor Union (SEKARGA) and the Garuda Pilots Association (APG) to go on strike particularly during the peak of the Ied al Fitr homecoming season.

“We will be opposed to the plan by SEKAGAR and APG to go on strike if it disrupt services to passengers,” Antara News quoted chief of the YLKI day-to-day executive board, Tulus Abadi as saying in a press statement released on Sunday.

Under the Consumer Protection Law and the Aviation Law, consumers deserve convenience, security and safety while using flight service, he said.

“We could praise the plan to go on strike if it does not affect services to passengers,” he said.

If the plan to go on strike materializes, more and more customers will leave Garuda.engan demikian, Tulus menyarankan agar, pertama, SEKARGA dan AP

Hence, he suggested that SEKARGA and APG to abandon their plan to go on strike.
