26 Lives Lost in Texas Church Shooting
Washington, MINA – Up to 26 people were killed when a gunman, late on Sunday, opened fire at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, the deadliest mass shooting in the state’s history, KUNA reported, citing the confirmation from the authorities during a news conference.
Sheriff Joe Tacitt Jr said that “they do not have any names of the victims since they are still assessing the crime scene.”
Although authorities would not confirm the suspect’s name but they said he did use an assault rifle.
Authorities have found the young white male deceased in a vehicle but do not know if he has lost his life from a self inflicted wound or by a local resident.
He was wearing all black tactical gear, Department of Public Safety Regional Director Freeman Martin told reporters.
The Red Cross has set up an assistance center for families affected. (T/RS5/RS1)
