1000S HOLD PRO-PALESTINE RALLY IN LONDON
Landon, 28 Ramadan 1435/26 July 2014 (MINA) – Thousands of people have taken to the streets of London on the International Quds Day to condemn the Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip, Press TV reports.
“The day of Quds actually became the symbol of standing with oppressed people, in particular the Palestinians, and today is actually even more important because while we are in the streets, the Palestinians are being victims of bombs and bullets,” said a protester on Friday, Press Tv reported by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Saturday.
A similar rally was also held outside the Israeli embassy in Kensington, west London, on Monday. The pro-Palestinian protesters were carrying placards which read “Freedom for Palestine” and “End Israel’s attacks on Gaza.”
In August 1979, the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, declared the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan the International Quds Day.
During the rallies marking the Quds Day, demonstrators call for the liberation of Palestine and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.
Also on Friday, millions of Iranians took to the streets to mark the day and show support for the Palestinian nation in the face of Israeli occupation and atrocities.
This year’s Quds Day coincided with Israel’s attacks on the blockaded Gaza Strip, which started on July 8. Over 880 Palestinians, including many women and children, have been killed so far in the Israeli raids, with thousands more injured. (T/P012/E01)
