Sana’a, MINA – Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, announced on Sunday the launch of a hypersonic ballistic missile targeting Lod Airport, known by the Israeli occupation as Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
According to Palestine chronicle, the missile strike, described as part of a “high-level military operation,” reportedly achieved its objective by disrupting airport operations and forcing millions of Israelis into shelters.
Saree stated the strike was a direct response to the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza and a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people and the Resistance.
He further emphasized that military operations by Yemeni forces, affiliated with the Ansarallah movement, would persist and escalate until the blockade on Gaza is lifted and aggression ceases.

The missile strike is part of a broader aerial blockade enforced by Yemen, which has significantly impacted international air traffic. Several global airlines have rerouted or delayed flights in recent days, effectively reducing traffic at Ben Gurion Airport.
Israeli media confirmed that air raid sirens were heard across Jerusalem and surrounding areas, while flight tracking data showed at least four inbound commercial aircraft were placed in holding patterns off the Mediterranean coast. The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) also confirmed a temporary suspension of airport operations.
Although the Israeli military claimed to have intercepted the missile, British Airways has extended its flight suspension to and from Israel until July 31, citing continued security concerns. The airline’s earlier suspension followed a prior missile strike on May 4 that reportedly bypassed Israeli defenses and landed within hundreds of meters of Terminal 3.
Yemen’s Ansarallah movement has also declared a naval blockade on the Israeli port of Haifa, warning shipping companies against docking there, adding further pressure to Israel’s transportation infrastructure. []
