UAE’s Khalifa Foundation Offers Food Aid to over 26,000 Gazan Families

Gaza Strip, 28 Ramadan 1437/04 July 2016 (MINA) – The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has distributed iftar meals to 26,238 underprivileged families in Gaza Strip on the 24th and 25th days of the fasting month of Ramadan as part of an initiative of the UAE leaders, WAM reported.

The foundation acted on directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The effort is being overseen by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Foundation.

An official source at the Foundation said the distribution was carried out in coordination with The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The source said the latest aid included rice, chicken, palm dates and yogurt.

A spokesperson for the UNRWA praised the Emirati foundation for contributing towards easing the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza where some 1.3 million people rely on aid offered by UNRWA.  (T/R07/R01)
