Palestinian President Awards “Star of Merit” to Indonesian Ambassador

Geneva, MINA – Hasan Kleib, Indonesian Ambassador to the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, was awarded “Star of Merit” by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday (6/28).

The awarding of the award was represented by Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, in the presence of ambassadors of Arab countries, ASEAN and the OIC in Geneva.

Mansour revealed that President Abbas specifically instructed him to pin the Bintang Tanda Jasa to Ambassador Hasan.

Through Mansour, Abbas said, Star of Merit was an acknowledgment of Ambassador Hasan’s extraordinary role in advancing and strengthening relations and friendship between Palestine and Indonesia.

“As well as sincere appreciation for solid solidarity and the extraordinary contribution of Ambassador Hasan Kleib who supported the noble struggle of the Palestinian people in achieving freedom and independence,” Mansour quoted Abbas as saying.

Hasan said that although the star was given to personal capacity, the award was in recognition of the contribution of the government of President Joko Widodo and the Indonesian people to the struggle of the Palestinian people so far.

This man born in Cirebon, West Java, now serves as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia at the UN, WTO, and other international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland. (T/Ast/P2)
