ISRAELI FORCES DETAIN 25 PALESTINIANS; SEIZE PROPERTY FROM WEST BANK
Ramallah, 11 Dzulqa’dah 1436/26 August 2015 (MINA) – Israeli forces early Wednesday detained 25 Palestinians and seized an unidentified amount of cash and jewelry from others in Nablus and Bethlehem, said security sources.
Israeli forces raided the Nablus village of Salem, where they detained six Palestinians after breaking into houses. The detainees were identified as ʻAbdul-Salam ʻIssa, Hilmi Karari, Rafiʻ and Thamin Ratib, Ahmad ‘Abed and Ghasab Jabbara, Wafa News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
They also raided ‘Azmut village to the east of the city, where they detained four Palestinians after breaking into houses. The detainees were identified as ‘Ala and Mahdi Thabet as well as Shawqi and Khalil ‘Alawneh.
They also raided ‘Awarta village to the south of the city, where they detained two Palestinians after storming and ransacking their houses. The two detainees were identified as ‘Ali ‘Abdat and Majdi Qawariq.
Israeli soldiers also raided Deir al-Hatab village, where they stormed two houses and detained the owners, who were identified to the media as Salman and Muhannad ‘Amran. During the pre-dawn raids, forces reportedly seized an unidentified amount of cash and jewelry.
Meanwhile in Bethlehem district, forces raided Husan village to the west of the city, where they detained 11 Palestinians, including eight members of the Hamamreh family, after storming their houses.
The eight members of the Hamamreh were identified as Muhammad, 20, Rayyan, 20, Omar, 20, Muhammad, 19, as well as two brothers, Saqer, 22, and Muhammad, 20, Ghassan, 20, and Mahmoud.
Israeli forces also detained other three Palestinians identified as Majd, 20, and Miras Sabatin as well as Amir Z‘oul. Several other Bethlehem areas were raided, including Manger Square, triggering clashes with local Palestinians. No injuries were reported during clashes however.
Furthermore, two minor Palestinian detainees were physically assaulted by Israeli forces in the Israeli detention and interrogation center of Etzion to the south of the city.
Detainees and Ex-detainees Committee attorney Hussein al-Sheikh told WAFA that Israeli forces Tuesday evening raided the Hebron refugee camp of al-‘Arrub, where they proceeded to detain Ihab Abu Maria, 17, and ‘Abdul-Karim al-Titi, 18, after breaking into and wrecking havoc to the houses.
Soldiers handcuffed and assaulted the detainees using their rifles’ butts. The detainees will be brought before the Ofer military court on Thursday purportedly for hurling stones at Israeli vehicles. They could be sentenced up to 20 years in jail if charged with throwing stones at the armed Israeli soldiers.(T/P008/R03)
