Al Quds, 23 Dzulqa’dah 1435/18 September 2014 (MINA) – Israeli police said Wednesday that they had detained ten Palestinians in overnight raids in East Jerusalem for their suspected involvement in recent clashes with Israeli troops.

The ten individuals were wanted for suspected involvement in nightly riot incidents that recently took place in the city, police said on Twitter, providing no further details.

Israeli forces stage daily raids in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, Alray Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Thurday.

Hundreds of Palestinians have been detained since the disappearance and subsequent killing of three Jewish West Bank settlers in mid-June.

Since then, numerous Hamas members, lawmakers and former cabinet ministers – who had been released as part of a 2011 prisoner swap between the resistance group and Israel – have been rounded up.

The number of Palestinians currently detained by Israel has recently risen to a whopping 7,000, according to the Palestinian Ministry for Prisoners’ Affairs.
