Jakarta, 18 Rabiul Akhir 1437/28 January 201 (MINA) – Indonesian Police Headquarters on Wednesday launched the “Stop Terrorism” application that can be accessed by the public to encourage people to report suspected terrorist-linked activities in their neighborhood.

This application can be downloaded to smartphones at the Google Playstore and Amazon Store for free, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) quoted Tribun News as reporting.

In launching this mobile application, the police cooperates with the application developer Adjie Primary.

“Through this application, users or the public can report directly if there are acts of terrorism. Or if they come across
suspected terrorists in their neighborhood can also be reported in this application,” said Adjie Primary at the Police
Headquarters.

Users would be obliged to fill the forms in each of their report the ID registration number, driving license number and cellphone number, the developer said.

The other features of the application include emergency phone numbers, direct link to social media such as Twitter,
discussion forum between users and authorized apparatus related to terrorism issues and media reports about terrorism.

Terrorists attacked the Sarinah shopping center in broad daylight earlier this month, when terrorists blew themselves off after shootout with police in a landmark crossroad at the heart of the Indonesian capital city, leaving eight people dead, including the terrorists, police and civilians, and 26 others injured.

On October 12, 2002 a car bomb exploded outside the Sari nightclub in Bali, a popular tourist island in Indonesia. The attack was the worst terrorist incident in the history of Indonesia, with 202 civilians dead and more than 100 wounded.

A series of bombings targeting “Western objects” in Jakarta such as the Australian embassy, JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton hotels in 2003, 2004 and 2009 claimed the lives of tens of foreigners and local residents. (T//R07/R01)
