Gaza, MINA – Senior Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk reiterated the movement’s commitment to returning the bodies of Israeli soldiers recovered in Gaza, while emphasizing that no fixed timeline has been determined for the process.
In remarks issued Sunday, Abu Marzouk accused Israel of fabricating pretexts, such as alleged delays in repatriations, to justify resuming military operations in Gaza.
He said that Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement by striking areas designated as safe zones, further devastating Gaza’s infrastructure.
Abu Marzouk also condemned US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling him “the foreign minister of Israel” in response to his recent remarks against the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). The Hamas official underscored that “UNRWA represents the lifeblood of the Palestinian people in Gaza and is indispensable.”

He argued that Washington’s current pressure on Israel was not an act of solidarity with Hamas, but an attempt to prevent Israel from deepening its own political and international isolation amid shifting global sentiment and dissent among Jewish communities regarding Israeli policies.
Abu Marzouk warned against attempts to disarm Hamas or remove it from its security role in Gaza, cautioning that such moves would trigger internal instability and chaos.
He also questioned the viability of deploying international forces in Gaza without a fair and sustainable framework, referencing previous failures in Bosnia and Iraq.
“True stability will only be achieved through the presence of a dominant force on the ground that believes in agreements and can impose security,” Abu Marzouk concluded.[]
