British International Development Visits Qatar Charity

Doha, 23 Rabiul Akhir 1437/2 February 2016 (MINA) – A delegation from the Department for British International Development visited Qatar Charity recently to discuss humanitarian work in various fields.

Minister of International Development Desmond Swayne, led the delegation which included Jessica Ervin, ‎DFID Representative  Gulf States,  Ajay Sharma, Britsh Ambassador to Qatar, Yousef Isma’il, Secretary for Politics, Economics and Energy at the British embassy in Qatar; and Ollie Sharp, Secretary at the department.

The delegation was received by Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, CEO, QC, Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghamedi, Director of Operations for International Development; and Jasim Al Najmawi, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation Unit in International Development, The Peninsula News quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Swayne praised QC’s role in the field of international humanitarian work, and hoped that such bestowal that reflects Qatar’s bright side would continue.

Al Kuwari welcomed Swayne and his delegation and stressed that QC has a great desire to cooperate and coordinate with international development agencies and organisations active in the humanitarian field.

This keenness, he said, stems from QC’s keenness to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by humanitarian crises around the world, especially in Syria and Yemen.

He said QC is organising a convention in Yemen from February 22 to 24 in coordination with its partners and regional and international humanitarian organisations.

He also stressed the keenness of the department to participate in the convention.

A short presentation was  delivered, highlighting  QC, its efforts and its favoured position among international humanitarian organisations.

Al Kuwari presented a memorial shield to Swayne. Swayne invited QC to visit the department in Britain and hold talks on cooperation and coordination in various fields. (T/Imt/R07)
