Abu Rudeineh: Palestinian Moves Came in Response to US Measures

Madrid, MINA – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, said on Tuesday that “the recent Palestinian moves came in response to some unacceptable US measures,” WAFA reported.

Abu Rudeineh was referring to the Palestinian decision to cut all communications with the US following its decision to close the Palestinian diplomatic mission in Washington.

He stressed that while “the Palestinian decision is going to face the challenges with firm and national positions,” the coming period “is critical and an opportunity to correct Palestinian-American relations.”

Abu Rudeineh called on Hamas “to pick up on these courageous positions to return to the legitimate fold and not allow anyone to play in the Palestinian arena.”

Abbas’ Fatah movement and Hamas are holding talks to end 10 years of division that would reunite the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Abu Rudeineh was speaking from Madrid where Abbas is on an official visit.
