Jakarta, MINA – Thousands of people from various organizations and community groups held a solidarity rally titled #HarapanPalestina: Indonesia Firmly Opposes Israel and the US in front of the United States Embassy in Jakarta on Sunday.
The rally served as a moral call for the Indonesian government to remain steadfast in supporting the Palestinian people amid the escalating Israeli military aggression.

The rally, which began in the morning, was attended by humanitarian organizations, students, artist communities, and public figures.
Participants called for an end to the genocide in Gaza and urged the international community to pressure Israel to allow unrestricted access for humanitarian aid.

“We came here carrying a message of peace, but also firmness. Indonesia must not remain silent in the face of the massacre of the Palestinian people,” said Fathur Rahman, one of the rally coordinators from the Palestinian Solidarity Committee.

A range of activities took place throughout the event, including musical performances, poetry readings, humanitarian speeches, art auctions, and theatrical acts portraying the suffering of Palestinian children.

The atmosphere became emotional as participants unfurled a giant Palestinian flag and sang “We Will Not Go Down” together.

Speakers also condemned the United States for what they described as turning a blind eye to Israel’s war crimes and obstructing peace resolutions in international forums.

“The US should act as a mediator, not a protector of crimes against humanity. We urge the Indonesian government to take a firmer stance in calling for international sanctions against Israel,” Fathur said in his speech.

In addition to criticizing US foreign policy, the demonstrators demanded that the Indonesian government strengthen its diplomacy at the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
They expressed hope that Indonesia would take the lead in mobilizing solidarity among Islamic nations in support of Palestinian independence.

According to the organizers, the #HarapanPalestina event was not merely a protest, but a moral movement to remind the world that the suffering of the people in Gaza continues.

“We want the global community to realize that every act of silence means allowing occupation to continue,” said one volunteer from a participating humanitarian organization.

The rally proceeded peacefully and concluded with a collective prayer for the safety of the Palestinian people.
Participants also handed over a written statement to representatives of the US Embassy, demanding an end to violence, the opening of humanitarian corridors, and full recognition of Palestinian independence.
