Head of Bappenas: Indonesian Economy in Stable During 2018

Jakarta, MINA – Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Bambang Brodjonegoro stated, Indonesian economy in a stable position during 2018.

Bambang said it when opening the 2019 National Development Planning Conference (Musrenbangnas) at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday.

According to Bambang, control of national economic growth is inseparable from the ongoing development carried out by central government.

“National development shows very good progress amid global uncertainty, the national economy has grown steadily and reached 5.17 percent in 2018,” he said.

On the other hand, he said poverty declined consistently and reached a low of 9.6 percent in September 2018, the unemployment rate also continued to decline to reach 5.3 percent in August 2018.

“Social welfare also continues to improve, among others, indicated by the increase in life expectancy, level of education, maintained political and security stability,” he said.

Bambang emphasized that this progress is an excellent basis to improve welfare of nation in the future.

“President Joko Widodo has initiated the 2015-2018 Indonesian dream in the context of realizing an independent, united, sovereign, just and prosperous Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

He explained that in translating the dream, his party compiled Indonesia’s vision of 2045, especially in welcoming 100 years of Indonesian independence.

“In Indonesia’s vision of 2045 Indonesia will become a developed and opinion country and high with the fifth largest GDP in the world,” he said. (TL/Sj/P2)
