78th Friday Action in Gaza Themes “Friday for Children Martyrs”
Gaza, MINA – Thousands of Palestinians on Friday, October 10 attended the 78th Friday Action or Great March of Return in the eastern Gaza border.
Dozens of Palestinians sustained injuries during the action that took the theme “Friday of Children Martyrs”, as quoted by the Palestinian Information Center (Palinfo), Saturday.
The National Committee of Return Parade said in their statement that the theme was chosen as a form of appreciation for Palestinian children who had been victims of Israeli barbarism and international silence.
According to a health ministry report, 49 residents were injured, including 21 gunshot wounds and 22 from teenagers and children.
Sources at the site said Israeli forces concentrating along the dividing fence in eastern Gaza, fired live ammunition, rubber bullets, and tear gas at Palestinian youths and teens.
Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, said that the presence of Palestinians in the 78th Friday action emphasized that the parade was part of struggle and consistency to achieve independence and the right to live in freedom and glory.
Hamas spokesman Hazim Qasim explained the presence of citizens had increased the commitment of Palestinian people to realize their goals, including the removal of Gaza blockade.
“The presence of citizens is proof that the struggle will continue to achieve independence and the right of return of refugees,” said Qasim.
The masses who attended also supported all efforts of national unity on the basis of participation in Palestinian constitution.
Since March 30, 2018, thousands of Palestinians have participated in peaceful marches near the dividing fence between Gaza and Palestinian territories in 1948, demanding the return of refugees to the cities and villages where they were displaced abolition of the blockade.
The action was responded repressively by tlIsraeli military, they shot at demonstrators, which killed 334 people, including 16 martyrs whose bodies were still being held by Israel, while the wounded reached 31 thousand people, including 500 seriously injured. (T/Sj/P2)
