Jakarta, 25 Rabi’ul Awwal 1436/16 January 2015 (MINA) – PT Bank UOB Indonesia (UOBI) on Wednesday hosted a seminar in Singapore on investment opportunities for more than 100 Asian and international investors keen on expanding beyond Jakarta.

Central Java and East Java, for instance, have a combined domestic consumer base of close to 70 million people, UOB Indonesia said in a statement.

UOB Indonesia deputy president director Iwan Satawidinata said rising consumption in Indonesia was creating opportunities for business development, making it one of the most attractive business destinations in Asia, The Jakartapost quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

“Indonesia is one of the fastest-growing emerging economies in the region. The demand for new infrastructure, business and consumer services to support this growth is creating many new opportunities for local and international companies. Businesses in the construction, logistics and services industries that are able to meet this demand can build a strong and sustainable business in Indonesia,” Iwan said.

Businesses from industries pivotal to Indonesia’s economic growth were in attendance at the seminar, from construction, commodities, energy and trading to the food and beverage and hotel industries. Indonesia’s key trade and government bodies, including the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), also attended the event.(T/P009/P3)
