Lieberman: Netanyahu Stop Me Targeting Hamas Leaders

Tel Aviv, MINA – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stopped his Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman at the time from killing Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in the Gaza Strip, Channel 12 reported.

MEMO report on Friday, in an interview with Israeli channels, Lieberman said, the agreement he had signed with Netanyahu’s Likud party included plans to topple Hamas in the besieged Gaza Strip.

He added, the Israeli prime minister did everything he could to avoid following through with the agreement.

Lieberman further said Netanyahu gave immunity to Hamas leaders, making them “not afraid”.

Regarding Netanyahu’s recent threat that will launch a large-scale military operation against the Gaza Strip to overthrow Hamas, Lieberman said, “We have heard these promises from Netanyahu in early 2009, and since then they have not been carried out,” he said.

According to a report by The Jerusalem Post, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, is expected to become kingmaker after next week’s election, Lieberman has been working to “take the pro-settler centrist vote” from Likud Netanyahu. (T/Ais/P2)
