INDONESIA’S KERTANEGARA REGENT DONATES 500 MILLION IDR FOR GAZA
Samarinda, 19 Ramadan 1435/17 July 2014 (MINA) – Regent of Kutai Kertanegara, East Kalimantan, Rita Widyasari, personally donated Rp 500 million for victims of the war in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
“I send the donations to organizations that collect aid for Gaza victims,” said Widyasari Wednesday, Antara reported as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).
He did it because what is happening today in Gaza, is a human tragedy. Palestine is a historic and sacred place for Muslims, especially the place of al Aqsa Mosque, the first Qibla of Muslims.
The Land of Palestine is the place where the three major world religions ; Christianity, Judaism, and Islam were established. Until now, the Israeli occupation army is attacking Gaza, Palestine.
She will also invite civil servants in Kutai to contribute funds for the victims of human tragedy in the Gaza.
In the other places including thousands of Indonesian students in Lampung, Sumatera, held a long march and fundraising rally for Palestine started from At-Taqwa mosque in Tanjung Karang to Adipura Monument, Bandar Lampung, Tuesday.
The coordinator of the event, Ikhwanuddin said it was a solidarity action initiated by Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah).
“We are collaborating with madrasah of Al-Fatah, Aqsa Working Group (AWG), and Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) to show our solidarity to Palestinians who are suffering as a result of the continuous Zionist airstrikes,” Ikhwanuddin said.
In the event, they demonstrated theatrical action, reading poetry for Palestinians and reading open letter to U.S. President, Barrack Obama.
Hafidzhah (17 years old) a female student from TahfidzAl- Qur’an Institute, Lampung asked Obama to show that he cares about humanity and open his eyes to the sufferings of Palestinians. Meanwhile, the theatrical action described conditions of Arab countries that could not do much in supporting Palestine.
Dade Novirzal, the chairman of al Fatah Lampung in his speech reminded that Indonesians could not be separated from Palestinians due to the Muslim brotherhood.
“We cannot forget, Palestine was the first country who recognized Indonesian independence from the Dutch occupation,” said Novirzal. (T/P04/E01)
