Israel in 2014 War Failed: Former Commander
Tel Aviv, MINA – Israel’s former deputy military chief of staff, Yair Golan, said the 2014 war in Gaza was a “failure” and what happened after that proved it.
Golan, as quoted by Safa, said in an interview with Army Radio on Thursday, Hamas was determining the current strategy, not Israel.
Regarding the current tensions on northern front, Golan, who is now a member of Democratic Party coalition led by former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, said that Israel’s recognition of its targets cannot be separated from election motives.
Israel’s aggression in Gaza in 2014 was the third aggression in Gaza Strip, which was preceded by aggression in 2008 and 2012, which left great devastation and hundreds of victims and thousands of people injured.
During the war, 64 Israeli soldiers and six settlers were killed, including a woman, and among the dead soldiers also had other nationalities such as America, Belgium, France and others.
The number of injured was 720 people, as well as huge economic losses which reached $560 million in the tourism sector, and $370 million in others.
The loss is illustrated by a report prepared by State Financial Superintendent Yosef Shbira about the failure of the 2014 Gaza war, which threatened to overthrow Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister, Moshe Ya’alon. (T/Sj/P2)
