Jerusalem, MINA – Israeli government is expected to approve the construction of 4.500 new Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which will be endorsed next week, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA) said on Friday.

According to IBA, the agreement is expected to be postponed until the Knesset election is scheduled to be held next April 9, if the ongoing dispute between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Defense cannot be resolved.

Currently, there are around 650,000 Jews living in more than 100 settlements in the West Bank controlled by Israel and in East Jerusalem,  Anadolu Agency reported.

International law views the West Bank and East Jerusalem as “occupied territories” and considers all Jewish settlement building activities there be illegal.
