Occupied Jerusalem, 9 Syawal 1435/5 August 2014 (MINA) – The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, Muhammad Hussein, has warned of the serious repercussions that are likely to be generated by the official announcement, launched by the so-called Temple institutions, of Israeli occupation regime bids to construct the alleged temple at the expense of holy al-Aqsa Mosque.

Hussein said in a press statement Monday: “The call coincides with Israeli occupation regime plans to carry out desecration break-ins into the mosque on August 9 at a time when the Israeli occupation regime has been perpetrating its unspeakable massacres against the Gaza populace.”

“Our mosques, hospitals, women, elderly people, and even children have all been targeted amid international silence and complicity maintained vis-à-vis such Israeli crimes,” he declared, Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Hussein called on the Palestinians to maintain vigil inside al-Aqsa so as to thwart the Israeli desecration plans, calling on the Arab and Muslim nations to immediately step in to protect holy al-Aqsa Mosque and rally round the targeted Palestinian people.

Member of the Fatah central committee, Abbas Zaki, said in a press release the renewed vandalism staged by Israeli settler gangs on al-Aqsa aims at halting the two-state solution and imposing a spatio-temporal division on the mosque like the case of the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil.

“Israeli fanatics have been attempting to hold sway over the holy mosque as part of their Judaization conspiracies aiming at wiping out the Islamic and Arabic idiosyncrasy of Occupied Jerusalem,” he added.

“We shall never give room to such Israeli occupation regime attempts to enforce a new and odd reality on the site,” he concluded.

One of the Mosque’s guards phoned Anadolu news agency during the events and said that a large number of police troops raided the Mosque and extensively fired stun and tear gas grenades into the grey-domed Mosque to force out everyone inside.

He added that the worshipers responded by throwing shoes and other things at the police forces to ward off their wanton attack.

The guard also said that this raid on the Mosque was aimed at evacuating all Palestinian worshipers from the Islamic holy place in order to make way for Jewish groups and individuals to defile it the next day to commemorate the anniversary of the destruction of the alleged temple.(T/P02/E01)
