Paris, 01 Rajab 1437/09 April 2016 (MINA) – French government expressed its concern on Friday over the Israeli decision aiming to build a new part of the separation wall in the West Bank, considering it a violation of international and humanitarian laws.

This decision will have negative repercussions and is a barrier in front of social and economic sectors of Bethlehem, French Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding that it affects lives of scores of families live in Beit Jala town, adjacent to the wall, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) quoted KUNA as reporting..

According to International Court of Justice’s resolutions issued on July 9, 2004, the construction of the separation wall in the occupied Palestinian territories “is illegal and violates international laws”. Paris called on Israel to back down from this decision.

The Israeli government announced on March 29 that it will expedite the process of completing the wall around Jerusalem, and build a new part near the Palestinian town of Tarqumiyah, west of Hebron.

According to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) issued last September, about 64.5 percent of the wall, whose length is 710 km, was built. (T/R07/R01)
