War Affected Palestinians Receive Kuwaiti Grant

Palestine distributes USD 4.5 million of Kuwaiti Grant for citizens affected by war.

Gaza, 18 Sha’ban 1438/15 May 2017 (KUNA) — The Palestinian Government started early Sunday disbursing some USD five million offered from Kuwaiti donors to the Palestinian owners of houses, destroyed in the Israeli war in August 2014.

Palestinian Minister of public works and housing Mufid Al-Hasayna was quoted by KUNAas saying in remarks to the local media that the compensations are payed through the Bank of Palestine as the total Kuwaiti grant is USD 4,996,000.

Al-Hasayna, on behalf of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Government and people for supporting the war-stricken people of Gaza.

Kuwait offered a financial grant of USD 200 million at a Cairo Conference in the end of 2014 following the Gaza war, for reconstructing the destroyed houses, as well as renovating the infrastructure. (T/RS5/RS1)
