Jerusalem, MINA – The Jerusalem District Court on Sunday rejected the defense team of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request to reduce the number of days he is required to testify in the ongoing corruption trial.

The Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported that Judge Rivka Friedman-Feldman, who leads Netanyahu’s trial panel, denied his request to testify three days a week instead of four.

“The trial will proceed as scheduled,” said the Israeli judge, according to Anadolu.

On October 13, US President Donald Trump, in a speech at the Knesset, urged Israeli President Isaac Herzog to grant Netanyahu a pardon for the corruption charges.

The Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation is set to discuss a draft law on Sunday to indefinitely postpone Netanyahu’s trial, according to the Times of Israel. If approved, the bill will be submitted to the Knesset for further deliberation.

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara firmly opposed any legislation that would allow political considerations to influence criminal proceedings, the media reported.

In January, Netanyahu began interrogation sessions related to charges in cases designated as 1000, 2000, and 4000, all of which he denies.

Netanyahu, whose trial began on May 24, 2020, is the first sitting Israeli leader to testify as a criminal defendant in the country’s history.

He is also facing charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, with the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants for him and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November 2024 over atrocities in Gaza, where more than 68,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 2023.[]
