Bali Floods Leave Nine Dead, Hundreds Displaced

Denpasar, MINA – Rapid assessments of emergency response efforts in Bali as of Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. local time confirmed nine fatalities, two people missing, and 202 households around 620 people affected across six districts and cities: Denpasar, Jembrana, Gianyar, Klungkung, Badung, and Tabanan.

According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), five deaths and two missing people were recorded in Denpasar, two fatalities in Jembrana, one in Gianyar, and one in Badung.

“In Klungkung, 99 households or 420 residents have been affected, while assessments in Tabanan are still underway,” BNPB said in an official statement.

The floods also forced evacuations. In Jembrana, 85 people have taken shelter in village halls, community centers, and mosques, while in Denpasar, 108 people are spread across SD 25 Pemecutan Elementary School, Banjar Sedana Merta Ubung, and Banjar Dakdakan Peguyangan.

BNPB Chief Lt. Gen. Suharyanto emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting affected residents.

“Our top priority is search, rescue, and saving lives, while also meeting people’s basic needs,” he said.
