Tunis, MINA – An investigation is underway into a suspected drone strike on a ship belonging to the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla, organizers said on Tuesday, Anadolu Agency reported.
The incident involved the “Family Boat,” one of the flotilla’s main vessels, which was reportedly hit by what is believed to be a drone while it was off the coast of Tunisia.
During a press conference, a spokesperson for the flotilla confirmed the incident and said the matter was still under investigation.
“We are not stepping back. We will move forward,” said a member of the Indonesian delegation participating in the mission.

However, Tunisian authorities have rejected claims of a drone attack. They stated that the fire onboard the vessel was caused by the ignition of a life jacket, not by an aerial strike.
The flotilla, organized to show solidarity with Gaza, includes international activists and aims to draw attention to the humanitarian situation in the besieged Palestinian territory. []
